Here’s the sitch: new financial year, new you. And the new you is lookin’ pretty damn busy this weekend so brace yourselves, the first weekend of July is going to be a biggie.

This weekend, Sydney is serving up some killer mocktails for all you Dry July peeps, OTT chocolate trifles for those with a sweet tooth and a winter design fair so you can stock up on all the good stuff.

ROOMBA NATION

Are you in need of a good laugh? Well then head on down to the Old 505 Theatre this weekend to see Hurrah Hurrah’s latest play. Taking a hilarious twist on the relationship humans have with technology, Roomba Nation explores how humans live, die and the role technology would play. Rumour has it, the team have hacked a set of robotic vacuum cleaners to torment their human counterparts and TBH if that mental image doesn’t make you laugh I honestly don’t know what will. DRY JULY AT THE TERNARY

Dry July just got a whole lot better thanks to The Ternary. Head on over this month to try the delicious fruity mocktail they’ve created to help us get through the long, long month of no alcohol (we’re not crying, you are). With ingredients including blueberries, club soda and lime juice, this blueberry honey mojito is so good you might actually forget why you even needed alcohol to start with.

OZHARVEST POP-UP

There are few restaurants where you can eat and give back to the community at the same time. That’s why we’re just loving Folonomo and its latest pop up series. This week, the team will be joined by Oz Harvest’s executive Chef Travis Harvey to deliver a menu that transforms food scraps into culinary masterpieces. We’re talking chocolate lace, shroom toasties and some delish cheese sauce. You’ll just have to come and try it for yourself. Plus all proceeds go directly to charity. TASMANIAN TRUFFLE ROYALTY | BLACK BAR & GRILL DINNER

Lead by executive chef Dany Karam, the menu showcases Tasmanian truffles in all their glory – we’re talking truffle poached marron and truffle ice cream. RIGOLETTO

Secrets, seduction, royalty, lust and revenge. Elijah Moshinsky’s production of Rigoletto has it all. This winter, Rigoletto returns to the Sydney Opera house stage with it’s decadent La Dolce Vita inspired sets and costumes. With a show stopping cast, including Renato Palumbo and Dalibor Jenis, you’ll be wrapped by this theatrical production as you watch Rigoletto’s quest to keep his one true love safe. QT SYDNEY CELEBRATES WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY

Come one come all, it’s time to celebrate our favourite guilty pleasure – chocolate! In celebration of World Chocolate Day, our friends at QT are hosting a decadent dessert and cocktail special sure to make your mouth water. Featuring made to order chocolate from our mates down in Tassy, toffee and a delectable federation trifle cocktail (think vanilla foam, amaretto, chocolate and Hennessy VS all mixed together and then topped with grated chocolate), no doubt you’re inner chocoholic will be jumping for joy.

PRECINCT 75 WINTER DESIGN FAIR

Yep it’s a one-day design fair and yep you’re going to go (especially because the weather forecast is said to be sunny skies and we all know that’s the best kind of market weather). Along with housing a bunch of epic designers like Uashmama, Watertiger and The Society Inc. you’ll also be able to fill your bellies along the way with sweets from Buttercream Bakery and wash it all down with brews on tap. Plus, your four-legged furry friends are more than welcome to tag along.

DANIEL BUREN EXHIBITION

Opening this Saturday, come and experience the childhood nostalgic at Daniel Buren’s latest exhibition. Throwing it back to the days we spent building towers with coloured wooden blocks , Buren uses giant wooden blocks to explore scale and colour in his pursuit to understand how space is used, borrowed and revealed. Featuring more than 100 geometric blocks, you’ll be delighted as you wander through the maze of shapes and colour, reminding us that we’re really just all big kids at heart. Sunday 10 July

ACACIA QUARTET

The Acacia Quartet is back and this time they’ve brought the international viola soloist Emile Cantor with them. Playing at the Independent Theatre this Sunday, you’ll hear Mozart’s String Quintet in G Minor, K516, Nick Wales Boomi’s Ray and Antonin Dvorak’s String Quintent Op.97 in all its glory. SYMPOSIUM

What better way to end the week than by hanging out with the gang at Sydney’s newest underground art and music night?  Featuring the latest talent from the local community, Symposium gives artists an opportunity to show and develop their stuff. With an array of music talents, including features from Billie Jean & Lola Sola this week.
