Keeping the kids entertained in the school holidays can be tricky business, so we’ve done the hard work for you.

We’ve rounded up everything you need to keep your kids occupied in the autumn break. School holidays run from Saturday 14 April to Sunday 29 April 2018.

Arctic Adventures

Journey through the frozen wilderness in a land of polar bears, huskies and more at the Maritime Museum’s Arctic Adventures. There’s a blizzard of things to do for the whole family from trying your hand at Inuit throat singing to watching live ice-cool theatre performances.

The contemporary children’s book will come to life with music, projections and performance. Prepare to be charmed.

Rooftop cinema at Luna Park Sydney

From high school classic Mean Girls to retro favourites like Back to the Future, there’s a movie for everyone at Luna Park’s rooftop cinema. Immerse yourself before Monday 30 April!

Pizza box robot workshop

Drop into Surry Hills Library and discover the art of pizza box robots. Meet the artist Tully Arnot and watch him bring a life-size robot to life before your eyes.

Bioblitz

Wake up early and stay up late for an educational adventure in Sydney Park. Become a citizen scientist and help record as many living things as possible with workshops, science activities, lectures and bike safaris.

Arty-farty Garden Party

Get involved with Garden Art Month at the Royal Botanic Garden. From scavenger hunts and card making to DIY fruit punch, make a day of it with a picnic and get hands-on with arts and crafts.

Makerspace school holiday workshops

Get creative and have fun with recycling and robotics at City of Sydney Library’s free makerspace workshops. All you need to bring is your imagination.

Chemical Concoctions

Create some surprising results with a Fizzics Education course. Kids will be putting their science goggles on to make everything from fizzy potions to elephant toothpaste. It’s a 1-day event, so make sure you don’t miss out.

Ride a bike at Sydney Park

Sydney Park is home to one of Australia’s best kids’ bike tracks. Riders learn road rules and challenge themselves on twists and turns. Sydney Cycleways also offers free balance bike clinics to help get your kids on 2 wheels. They’re on daily during the school holidays, Monday to Saturday.

Have a dip

Our pools are perfect any time of the year. Take an indoor dip at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre or Cook + Phillip Park. Enjoy the great outdoors at Prince Alfred Park, Andrew (Boy) Charlton and Victoria Park Pool.
